Connecting farms to families.

With the support from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, we are leading a coordinated urban agriculture and food access initiative in Duluth, MN, to strengthen local food production, reduce food loss, and integrate harvested produce into the Nourish food box program, which serves food-insecure households. Through partnerships with Duluth Community Garden Program (DCGP), One Vegetable One Community (OVOC) programming at Lincoln Park Middle School (LPMS) via Duluth Farm to School (F2S), University of Minnesota Duluth’s (UMD) Food and Environmental Justice Studies Hub, and University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners (MGs), DCWC will expand food production and infrastructure at the Cook Home Duluth Community Garden, rebuild aging school garden infrastructure, and align crop planning and preservation with community distribution needs, and inspire and prepare young adults for farming. This project is building community and economic capacity by directly connecting urban agriculture production to food access systems.
